Hey!
Heh.
Sorry for the not-updating-my-blog thingy.
I had been busy with Hari Raya outings, and there's one tomorrow too.
Going here, going there.
Argh.
And I needed the few moments to catch up with my sual life.
And here I am!
Well there's not much to say.
Just now my sister, my bassist and I went to my other guitarist's house for a long jam-up practice session.
Which turned out to be really short, due to some unforeseen circumstances.
So we had to go back early.
Then we went to the food court behind my house to get dinner, and we went back to my place for another jamming practice session, without the other guitarists.
We managed to do some riffs, so that's a good sign.
I have to quickly record it down so I won't forget.
He just went off at 2345h just now.
And here i am.
...
Tomorrow, I'll be going to a classmate's open house (don't know the duration) and when I get home, I'll have to make sure to scan my drawings for Aishah.
Hmm, well that's it,
Owarimasu. I'm pretty exhausted.

WANT TO DRAW ANIME?

Well, I'm not really in the Hari Raya mood.
I'm not really sure why.
Anyways, this post benefits my friend Aishah!

Heh, and it's for anyone interested in drawing anime too.
I'm just gonna give a few tips and advise on how to draw nice posters.
**take note, I'm not professional either, I paint, I don't draw.

Well most of us, if not everyone, starts off not knowing the basics of drawing anime right.
And hey, it's not like you can't learn!
Perhaps many of you started drawing like me.
You close your eyes, think of what you wanna draw, and then you just scribble with a pencil.
Like this:

Fret not!
In my case, I start from step to step basis.
I work out one part by one part.
I divided my anime drawing practicals into several parts:
-eyes
-face
-hair
-shadows and outlines
...
Firstly is the eyes part.
Practice drawing different kinds of eyes.
Not sure how to start drawing eyes?
Don't worry, there's always Google!
Google stuff like 'male anime eyes' or 'female anime eyes' and samples like these should pop up.
Female eyes
Male eyes
More technical variety
Putting into practice
It's good to save these samples so that you can refer to them and improvise as to what you want to use on your anime character.

Alright next up is the face.
Face shapes are important in giving out the true nature of the stance and posture of the character.
It displays the angle at which the character is standing too.
Here are some examples:
In this step, don't concentrate on the hair too much.
You'll lose the purpose of the practical.
The main thing here is to pick up ways to emphasize on the jaw and cheeks.
Along this way, work out the ways of drawing nose and mouths too.
This would be an added bonus.
As you practice on, you'll learn how to associate mouth shapes with facial expressions.

Here comes the hair part.
Hair is the pat which requires technical design.
The hair should accentuate the face shape of the character.
Remember this: anime hair is subtle and delicate, yet visually interpretive.
An example of a hair index
There's another step to this.
You may want to..
..draw the skeleton first, plan the viewing angle and the details on the hair. And add the hair on to..
..your final drawing afterwards, so that there is not much distortion due to eraser marks and unwanted details.
That's basically it for the hair.
If all put together till now, I would slowly piece bit by bit:
Piece in sketches of eyes, jaws, face shape, and hair.
Bad drawing is okay in this steps.
Look, I drew bad too.
Practice is key.

Last tip from me is the shadows and outlines.
This is the usually tricky part to making our character more 'real-life' looking.
Drawing without shadow profile - it looks flat and bland.
whereas:
Drawing with shadow profile - accentuates her figure and contours, as well as create a visual appreciation o detail.
The key to producing shadows and stuff is to first think of the light source.
Where is it coming from?
How bright is it?
And how will the light affect the amount of detail?
Imagine it from a real-life physics point of view.
If the light source is coming from the top, any detail that is covered by the character would require extra shading and so forth.
That's the basis.
It requires training, and lots of watching anime and reading manga heh =P

These are some of the few tips I use to draw too.
Well mine isn't really that good anyways.
I used to draw using this method while still in Secondary school.
Sketching and stuff.
It didn't really work.
Now I try the conventional methods:

A more complicated and time-consuming one would be like:

You can also try transforming human into anime.
Like as in the case of this Gabalnara photo, I tried..
..and I got this.
Not really nice, but it's a sketch.

Here's my story.
For the past week.
I haven't really been doing my revision. And my first paper's 4 days away.
Good luck better be on my side this Saturday.
And I was always having instant noodles for my pre-dawn meal.
Sis isn't fasting (red month) and mum just ate dates the day before, so I usually eat alone.
And truthfully, I would want to cook anything other than instant noodles, but there was nothing I could make.
Can you imagine eating instant noodles?
Again and again?
Eww.
Okay thinking bout it makes me wanna puke strings of flour.
But just now, mum woke up and fried rice together with egg and some flavoring powder thingy, plus fried anchovies.

Speaking of which, yesterday was the day of the photography presentation.
As usual I told stories and stuff, and luckily I did okay.
Taking into account how I was like a few years ago.
But I thought my photos seemed to have strayed away from the theme a little bit.
Credits to Ryan Lee and Li Huimin for the very interesting photos.
I guess I wanted to use the kittens' photos for the exhibition.
I didn't keep the rest of my raw photos, I just deleted them.
Just like how my desktop crashed and deleted a thousand of my photos, including some award-winning ones.
I don't wanna bother with photos and stuff for the time being.
I'll focus more on mastering music.

By the way, it's...

... like, a good thing to fast.
But, with the coming examinations, there's no time for me to do workouts and my usual 5km night run.
I really wanna lose these fats.
Although it's not a lot.
But I had noticed lately that they're beginning to deposit themselves at the most difficult place to shake them off.

...the hips and thigh!
Mine's getting like, bigger.
And I aint gonna maike it worse y'all.
I just researched on losing those hip and thigh fats.
Jogging, cycling, skipping and squats work best.
Diet would be mostly fruits and vegetables, and no coke.
All right, this'll be my food and drink after Hari Raya.
Oh no, Hari Raya's gonna be full of Rendang, Serunding, Lontong and Curry!

Gonna just take a bite of everything and that's it.
My pull-up bar's only an 8 currently, after 2 years of not touching.
I have to get it to at least 13 by next year, to not break my record of Gold.
And yea, I've never gotten Silver in Napha test before, considering my health problems and stuff.
I'm thankful that I'm still able to live life.

I guess I've been typing too much.
Guess I should stop soon.
Anyways I want to change my hairstyle.
I'm deciding between Emo or Visual-kei.
